For Lluís Porqueras, designing consisted of eliminating the superfluous until an essential object was left: beautiful, useful and simple. This was the case with the Funiculí, a 1979 lamp that Marset reissued in 2013 and which has become an emblem of the collection.
Lightweight, it takes up almost no space and can function as an ambient lamp or for direct light, depending on how you direct the beam. Its designer released the shade to give maximum mobility. It can rotate through 360 degrees to focus the light where you want and also has a double clamp system for height adjustment. For the Funiculí, 40 years are nothing; it has stood the test of time and now comes in new colours that further expand its possibilities; green terracotta and mustard in addition to moss grey, black and off-white.

Marset
Marset was established in 1942 as a family business, not making lighting, but as a foundry. That foundation in casting metals did eventually segue into lighting design, however, with Francisco Marset formally establishing Marset Illuminacion in 1965.
The decades spent experimenting with and molding metal translated well into the contemporary lighting industry: manipulating all kinds of materials to create unexpected, atmospheric lighting effects.

Lluís Porqueras
Spanish designer Lluís Porqueras is known for his timeless and atmospheric lighting designs that are often based on the contrasts of light and shadow as well as vividness and tranquility.
In 1956 Porqueras established Stoa, the first Catalonian design office, and in 1979 he and Jaume Vaquero founded the lighting brand Vapor.
Today, many lamps from Vapor’s catalogue are part of Marset’s collection. Porqueras has also designed lamps for companies such as Santa & Cole and Marset.
