Io
Hand & Eye | Tom Housden
Named for one of Jupiter’s moons, the Io wall light has an ethereal glow and texture reminiscent of a celestial body.
The ‘stone’ disc is made in a low impact and sustainable process by recycling waste ceramic and glass and adding a little pigment for colour. This process means that each disc has a different make-up of ceramic content, resulting in a unique speckle effect.
Each of the Io’s three colour options is soft enough to be neutral but has a touch of colour to compliment other elements of a space: Dust is a light grey with touch of green, Smoke is a mid-grey with a touch of blue, and ‘Desert’ is a sandy beige-pink tone.
The Io is a beautiful wall decoration and provides a soft accent light to walls in any room or space. The illumination is provided by a bulb at the front, highlighting the texture and colour of the disc, with an option for additional LED back lighting where a wall wash is desired.
Please note Hand and Eye is certified on request. Please allow for a certification fee and additional lead.

Designer
Tom Housden
Tom Housden runs a successful architectural practice, Outpost. However, he felt the choice of lighting on the market didn’t always meet project requirements and design ethos of the practice.
Housden went on to found London-based lighting studio Hand & Eye, where he designs and produces ranges that correspond to his vision of creating lighting that has a transformative effect on spaces and the people who live and work in them.
